“Rock bottom is the end of what wasn’t true enough. Begin again and build the true.” - Lilly Singh
Several times in my life, I have found myself at the scariest place one could ever be. Life had turned sour and bleak, and I felt hopeless and helpless. I wondered if there would be a better tomorrow, whether I would recover and return to optimal health. I was worried about my memory and sanity.
Twice or thrice, I thought that the following week, by that time, I would be dead and buried, and my body would be decomposing. Believe me, these dreadful thoughts are extremely painful in one’s dire straits. They throw you in some kind of bottomless hole; in stressful situations, these thoughts are mind-boggling. Truly, they are overwhelming.
Today, many years later, I am writing this blog post, thinking that all I went through had a purpose. I am alive now and hopeful, having a passion to write and inspire others so they can weather their own storms and keep going with renewed energy and strength. During my time of trials, my strength to survive mostly came from my hope to help people someday.
So, what is your rock bottom today? What is threatening you? What is scaring you to death? Are you bankrupt, having lost your last dime? Is the street beckoning you? Are you all by yourself, having lost your dearest, with no friends to welcome you? You alone know what your burden is; you alone feel it. But let me tell you one thing: this is not the end. Why? Because you are still alive.
Your still being alive is the ultimate promise. Whenever there is life, there is hope. The flame in you can still be rekindled, and I am here today to remind you of that. Your rock bottom is the solid foundation for better and wonderful days. This might sound out of place, unbelievable, and, maybe, an insult to you because your pain is so excruciating. But this message is timeless: your dead end is the herald of a new and promising beginning.
Now is not the time to throw in the towel. This is no time to give up. The pains you are going through are harbingers of wonderful days ahead. It's time to get inspired and find your passions and your purpose in the world. Your trials are days of preparation for your destiny. It is time to begin anew with refreshed hope and energy, and a new vision. Say 'Yes!' to your destiny and begin to be a blessing to those whom life puts on your path.
“And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.” - J. K. Rowling
